The following files appear on the drive:
FINDER.DAT
Desktop DF
Desktop DB

Is it okay for me to delete the files, or is there some way I can make them invisible? Thanks.

I had something similar on mine, I just used disk utility and boom, they were gone. I think most of that stuff is for PC's anyway.

Deleting them should be okay... the files should be remade as necessary by the OS. Usually these files are invisible to the user... using a disk utility and fixing permissions may make them invisible once again.

Those are all Mac specific files. They are harmless.

You will see that if the drive is formatted for PC's. If you reformat it as a Mac drive, then you wont see them any more. They will still be there, but will be invisible.
The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.

Okay. I want to keep the drive formatted for PC, so reformatting or repairing persmissions is out of the question. Ah well, it's no big deal. I was merely wondering.
