Hi guys...
First post here so a big hello to everyone, and my name is Sarah!
I would appreciate some help if possible, although i really do dislike to receive before giving but i guess you all understand...
On my iPod (purchased today) is it possible to password protect it? Basically I will have tunes but also a lot of pics which are of family and i dont really want anyone else who may borrow my iPod to see. So can i password protect the pictures? And while i'm asking this question, is it possible to password protect the iPod generally from all access?
Really appreciate any help
Sarah x

Hey, Sarah. Congratulations on your new iPod and welcome to the forums!
I gotta tell ya... with a line like "although i really do dislike to receive before giving..." methinks you'll be quite popular around here.
You don't happen to live in Vegas, do you?
Anyway, with the new iPods (nanos and videos) there is a feature called Screen Lock that is exactly what you’re looking for.
Here's the run down from Apple:
Locking Your iPod Screen:
You can set a combination to prevent your iPod from being used by someone without
your permission. When you lock an iPod that is not connected to a computer, you must
enter a combination to unlock and use it.
Note: This is different from the Hold button in that the Hold button prevents iPod from
turning on accidentally. The combination prevents another person from viewing your
iPod screen.
To set a combination for iPod:
1 Choose Extras > Screen Lock > Set Combination.
2 On the Enter New Code screen, enter a combination:
• Use the Click Wheel to select the first number. You can also use the Previous/Rewind
and Next/Fast-forward buttons to select a number. Press the Center button to
confirm your choice.
• Use the same method to set the remaining digits of the code.
When you finish, you return to the Screen Lock screen.
To lock your iPod screen:
Choose Extras > Screen Lock > Turn Screen Lock On > Lock.
If you just finished setting your code, Lock will already be selected on the screen. Just
press the Center button to lock iPod.
Tip: You might want to add the Screen Lock menu item to your main menu so that you
can quickly lock your iPod screen.
You can unlock your iPod in two ways:
• Enter the combination on iPod by using the Click Wheel or the Previous/Rewind and
Next/Fast-forward buttons to select the numbers and then pressing the Center
button to confirm them. If you enter the combination incorrectly, the digits flash red.
Try again.
• Connect iPod to the primary computer you use it with, and iPod automatically
unlocks.
Note: If you try these solutions and you still can’t unlock iPod, you can restore iPod.
To change the combination once you've already set a combination:
1 Choose Extras > Screen Lock > Change Combination.
2 On the Enter Old Code screen, enter the current combination.
3 On the Enter New Code screen, enter a new combination.
Note: If you can't remember the current combination, you must restore the iPod
software to change the combination.
Hope this helps.

To dislike Sinatra is a sign of highly questionable taste. To dislike the Beatles is a serious character flaw.

Welcome to the forums, Evertonia!
Crooner's advise is correct. Although you cannot lock the features of the iPod (like viewing certain photos), you can at least lock the entire iPod so your snoopy co-workers (or friends, family, relatives.. etc) can't take a peek at your personal images and music collection.
