Brand new, in the box. I ordered it from an overstock shipment, which means no returns, but I found out that I really don't need this drive right now. I had originally ordered this for my iMac, so you iMac owners may really want to see this. This is one cool drive, which would be why I ordered it. =) Fast seek time (<9.0ms), high speed, and a compatible interface, all from a reliable company.
Here are the basic specs, pulled from information on the box and Maxtor's web site.

* 7,200 RPM, 25% faster spin time than most hard drives
