Hi:

Anyone know if it's possible to get a DDR SODIMM with an individual capacity of 2 GB each ?

I want to upgrade my powerbook 1.67 17" to a total of 4 GB using 2 such SODIMMs.

Yes, no standard, costly, no-support, risky, yadda, yadda, but is it possible ?

Those 2 GB SODIMMs on froogle are rated at PC2-5300 speed. Is this compatible with PC-2700 on the powerbook 1.67 ?

Sorry for the confusion, I thought you were refering to the current 1.67Ghz PowerBooks, which use DDR2-4200 (although at 2700 speeds).

I haven't seen any 2GB PC3200 SO-DIMMs.

I have the latest revision of the PBs, so could I buy two of those and my PB would have 4GB?! I thought the powerbook only supported 2GB

Does anyone have an answer to this? I am curious. I have a PB 15 1.5ghz & Apple states a 2gb capacity.

Is this due to the fact that when these machines were introduced, there were only 1gb sticks available?

The RevA 12" PB was spec'd at 640mb, but people were putting 1.25gb in them without problems.

Thanks in advance

Unknown. Some Macs support more RAM than the stated maximum, others don't.
