Deaf or not, wouldn't she have felt the train coming? Trains aren't exactly light on their feet, you can feel them rumbling from far enough away to get off the tracks (and you'd think, while walking on train tracks, you'd be somewhat more attuned to what's around you).
Unless, of course, she wanted to be on those tracks when the train went by...

Is she blind or what ?
What the heck is she doing on the tracks ?
And if she was crossing them, why the fark did she not look left and right ?

So sad. My prayers are with her family and friends. May she rest in peace.

Ya, saw that this morning. Don't feel sorry for her, she isn't a very smart person.
WHAT IN THE WORLD IS A DEAF PERSON DOING WALKING AROUND ON A TRAIN TRACK?
That is if I was blind and started marching around on a runway.
For the record I had a classmate die in the same manner except he was listening a walkman. He saw the train coming from ahead of him so he stepped over to the other track and didn't see the one coming from behind.

Don't get me wrong I feel sorry for her friends and family but not her. She just isn't that bright.
So how is what I said any more inconsiderate than the "I'd hit it" comments before me?

Well, how about anybody would explain to me what she was doing on the tracks ?
And as I asked before, was she blind as well ? For sure, she wasn't listening to her iPod...

you'd think if you were deaf, you'd know better than to be anywhere near train tracks...
and the i'd hit it remark was very inconsiderate.

Exactly. The fact she didn't know that is scary.
Actually I don't even go near train tracks and I am not deaf. Heck I remember my mom and teachers telling me not to go close to them.
Perhaps the educational video she watched didn't have sub-titles.

Not having been there, no, I really couldn't. But I have to cross train tracks every day to get to and from work, so I can certainly imagine she similarly needed to get someplace on the other side of the tracks.

Ok, so let's say she crossed a railroad tracks and got hit.
What's that tell us ?
Yes, that she was either dumb or extremely distracted.
If you are deaf, you know that you have to rely even more on your sight. So, my question again, unless she was blind, something must have gone really really wrong here...

So when you cross train-tracks to you purposely cover your eyes and strut across?
I bet she was just walking to a location following the tracks. any other way you would see the damn thing.
The driver also said he was honking the whole time he saw her up until the end so I don't think it was a matter of stepping over a couple rails.

Useful bits of pertinent info missing from the article include the location of the tracks.
I think it's a sure bet that she knew what train tracks meant and that it wasn't suicide. It was an accident.

When you were young and your heart was an open book, you used to say "live and let live."
But if this ever changing world, in which we live in, makes you give in and cry, say "live and let die."

No, it's NOT a sure bet at all. Where do you get this from ?
Unless, you support the notion that she was not only extremely deaf, but also extremely dumb or blind.

Yes, as sad as it is, if you're deaf, you're not blind. You can still see the tracks, and feel the train coming.

Here's a little more information on the story:
http://keyetv.com/topstories/local_story_073173205.html
Honestly, though - the part of town that accident occurred in (South Lamar/Oltorf) isn't exactly the safest place in town. I wouldn't be walking around nonchalantly while embarking upon a shortcut there, that's for sure.

Anybody who thinks a girl deserves to die for text messaging should be punched in the throat. Then they can know what deserving to have bad things happen to you feels like.

I don't anyone is saying she deserved to die, more that common sense should make it obvious that you don't walk down train tracks, whilst text messaging, whilst not having the ability to hear.

Bingo. Nobody here is saying she should be executed but this girl is incredibly dumb and deserves a darwin award.
