Colors Out of Whack After Fast User Switch

Every time I use fast user switching to switch from my main account to another account...
When I switch back to my main account, the color changes after about a second, and looks washed out. Opening System Preferences, clicking the Displays pane, clicking the Color tab, and changing to any of the listed profiles produces the system beep/alert/"you can't do that" sound, and nothing happens.
What could be doing this? How can I correct it?

This is a known bug. There was a thread about it recently.

Does 10.4.6 fix this one or not?
If not, read this macosxhint for a solution.

Thanks! Looks like there are a few fixes for it. I'll put one into place.

I just adapted that fix into a nice, easy-to-use AppleScript:
Save the following script as a run-only application:
do shell script "/System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CoreGraphics.framework/Versions/A/Resources/DMProxy" user name "AnAdminUsername" password "ThatAdminPassword" with administrator privileges
Obviously replace AnAdminUsername with an admin's user name, and ThatAdminPassword with that account's password (leave the quotes around both!!!).
Then you can just add that to a user's login items so it'll fix it as soon as they log in.

Isn't that something of a massive security hole - won't the username and password be in plain sight for everyone to see if they open the script? Or does compiling as a run-only application prevent that?

That's why you save as run-only: that saves a compiled, non-extractable script. You cannot open a run-only script, which is why it's called run-only.

I have a similar issue. When I switch users, the iBook's LCD display profile changes to RGB display instead of LCD display. I have to log out and back in to fix it. maybe this fix will take care of it.

That's not a "similar" issue, it IS this problem!
