In his younger days, Bowie.

If Lorenzo Lamas could be more low key, he might have fit. Maybe...

Easy: Tony Danza. If he isn't available, I could work with Bob Saget too.

Keanu was perfect for Neo. He always has that "Whoa" look about him anyway... made it his best acting performance ever.

I agree that Keanu was so perfect for the role that it's hard to imagine ANYONE else as Neo. I'm just trying to honor the OP and try to think of others.

I like Bob Saget, too.

Well let's not overlook William Hung as a possible Neo or POTUS.

If Bob Saget didn't have such a foul mouth, he'd still be my greatest hero. He was brilliant in America's Funniest Home Videos.

Saget performed at Cal last semester. Good lord...

...the amount of cum, pot, and "that bitch Kimmy Gibler: I ****ed her" jokes...

That's why I have mixed feelings about him. I think he's straying too far from his roots and trying to be someone he isn't. Who he actually is in my heart is the lovable and hilarious host of America's Funniest Home Videos.

I'm not one of those people who tries to 'disprove' other posters, but...

I saw the Full House: E True Hollywood Story and Bob Saget was a raunchy, stand-up comedian before anybody knew who Danny Tanner was. Apparently he was in trouble with the show kids parents pretty often for the raunchy jokes, etc he was making backstage. So, in reality, he's going back to his roots - Full House and AFV were a long stretch for him.

Back to the OP... I think Keanu was good as Neo, because he wasn't the typical "hero type", big burly and angry (think Vin Diesel). But if I had to cast someone else... Maybe Matthew McConaughey - he's got that same sort of 'unsuspecting' look about him.

Wasn't Will Smith orginally cast as Neo, but he passed to do Wild Wild West (no, seriously).

I am soooo glad that didn't happen. Not that I hate Will Smith, but he just didn't fit the part.
