one of my memory has gone bad on me, i was wondering do i have to buy the exact same one as b4 down to the brand name, or can i get a different brand name as long as the specs are matching?

the ram i have is corsair valueselect 1gb... for example, can i buy like kingston 1gb to replace that bad one? or do i have to buy the exact same corsair valueselect 1gb?

also do the CL have to match also? i have CL3.5...

I think the only thing that REALLY matters (unless you want to squeeze every last ounce of speed) is the size of the module.

I also think the brand doesn't matter -in the sense that you can indeed place RAM from different makers there inside the G5- but the size could matter since while I am not 100% sure, I think the G5 requires RAM to be installed in pairs.

Here you have some options:

But firstly… is your faulty RAM still under warranty?

Brand does not matter as much as specs and the quality of the chips themselves.
