I had a few different computers and everytime my Quicktime is misbehaving, either v3, or 4 or 5 !!
The problem is that AVI-movies play, but only show a white viewer, so no contents. I like the transformers, but cannot see them
Also, can I save streaming QT-movies? How? Do I need a pro version for that?

I'm guessing the AVI movies are Divx, a codec that's not very well supported on the mac. I hear there are new decoders that may work, but so far with my experience Divx is a no go. Someone correct me if it's needed, I'm not very well seasoned in catagory.

You can try the DivX Player for the Mac, @ http://mac.divx.st . The quality is still not as good as it is on PCs, but at least you get a picture.

Streaming content is deleted after it's played.
There may be a way to save it, but not with QuickTime pro.

If you have OS X, there are a few ways to get these files to work an your computer. First off, get all of the Quicktime 5 plugins, and then get the Easy DivX ripper to take the DivX files and make them playable.

Before jumping to the conclusion it's a DivX, make sure you have the Indeo Codec in your extensions folder. Intel Indeo 3, 4, and 5 are different compressions for AVI not natively supported by QuickTime.
If those don't work, then try the DivX codecs.
Indeo codecs can be found here.

I really don't think that Indeo codecs work. First off, they're very old, and DivX files tend to be a much newer type of compressed file.

Download OpenDIVX I have a few DIVX codecs in my library folder in OS X and there is not a DIVX I can't play. I do use DIVXPlayers divxdoctor feature on each of them first to fix the sound though.
I am using 3ivx Delta 3.5 for OS X, and OpenDIvX.component

Anyone know a workaround for playing .avi files in OSX ? With no extensions folder, I'mm unsure where to put my codecs to make plain old .avi files play....
