Hi.

I'm a total newbie when it comes to using Terminal. I need to change the port in Apache to 81 or 8080 because my ISP is blocking port 80. I would need keystroke by keystroke instructions. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have given up on this for now. I did manage to get Apache reconfigured to use a different port but no matter which port I choose I still can't see the default Apache web page. I did have my router configured to port forward and all but no go. Is it possible that my ISP blocks not only certain ports but any HTTP requests incoming ?

Possible. Did you remember to change the port in OS X's firewall as well, though? That could also be screwing you up.

I don't have OS X's firewall turned on at the moment although I probably should.

Are you specifying in the browser that you want port 81? Ex. http://192.168.1.2:81 Otherwise your browser will repeatedly try to access port 80.

By the way, if you are using a router and forwarding the port, you could route port 81 on the external ip to port 80 on your computer behind the firewall. So http://69.72.128.42:81 maps to 192.168.1.2:80, then you wouldn't have to reconfigure apache.

Yes I did have the :81 at the end of my IP. I had port forwarding configured and even tried using a DMZ. Nothing seems to work. I have come to the conclusion that my ISP is somehow blocking any HTTP requests coming into my computer. I hope I'm wrong though as I would like to be able to listen to my music at work on midnight shifts using iTunes Catalog which supports streaming audio.
