MacBook 1.82 2gb RAM
OS X: 10.4.7 with all updates (including the new security one)

Firefox 1.5.0.6

Flash version: 9.0.18.0

Suddenly, without warning, I no longer have sound either in browser or standalone flash things.

I deleted the Macromedia folder in ~/Library, uninstalled and reinstalled Flash, repaired permissions. Nothing. I'm lost.

Thanks for the help.

You can fix this by launching Garageband once.

Here's what I found. I've been fiddling trying to get sound to work in flash since I installed beta 9 of Flash Player. Reverting to 8 didn't solve my problem, but I figured it out before I found this thread.

I guess installing a new version of flash messes with the audio settings on the Mac Book (and perhaps other Mac platforms?) - I went to "Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI setup" and found the Audio Output was set to 96khz, changing it to 48 or 44khz made it so sound again played in flash animations/movies etc.

Hope this helps.

I geuss that's what GarageBand does when launching it. This is so weird, I can't figure out why the settings would suddenly change.

Ooh well, it works again, thnx.
