I just got a Macbook Pro and I waswondering if anyone could answer a question abut the VLC media player. It seems to play most Divx and other content but the other day I was watching something I believe was encoded in Xvid and it played it but with a green line going diagonally through the video window while it played.

I've also noticed that when playing the same file in Divx Player, it will play the video but not the audio.

Any Ideas anyone?

its probably a codec thing. As much as people like to think VLC will play everything it may not have the codec you need for that particular file correctly. some codec packs Ihave only seen on PC like the CCCP codec pack. here are a few things that might help you figure it out and/or fix it.

MplayerOSX 1.0pre 8 (another good player)
Divxdoctor II
DivxTool

also try downloading the latest xvid codec and divx codec and try to play in quicktime

None of this may work as I have never heard ofthe issue you have but they may.

Thanks guys That fixed the issue it appears. Aside from that little minor thing I'd say my adventures in Apple land are going well .
