what do i need for my macbook pro to play MPEGs, streaming audio or video, ect. that i used to use Windows Media Player for?
geek qualifications include:

MacBook Pro, 17", 2.53ghz i5, 4g RAM, 500g HD, Glossy HD Screen
MacBook Pro, 15", 2.16ghz, 1g RAM, 100g HD, Matte Screen
iPhone 4, Black, 32g, BestSkinsEver Total Body Skin

Quicktime Player (already installed) will play most video files. To install a codec to play wmv files in Quicktime also, go here:

Flip4Mac WMV Products

VLC is also a free program that will play nearly anything, should quicktime not open a file:
