Anyone see the Slow Donnie episode of Just Shoot Me? There was a guest character on the show who was pretending to be retarded so he wouldn't have to get a job and move out of his parents house, iirc. It was actually kinda funny. That someone would do this in real life is very sick.

I saw that. He kept coming on to Laura San Giocomo's character but denying it when anyone else was around

I LOVE Laura San Giocomo!
She's HOT!
Thank God this didn't happen in the South.

"His mother insisted he couldn't read or write, shower, take care of himself or drive a car"
hahaha, what a sentence to end with 'drive a car'
If you can't shower how the F can you drive a freaking car.

What's even funnier is that his cover was blown while fighting a moving violation in court.

That's pretty funny Salty, coming from you. I don't believe in obvious fairytales as a guiding light in my life.... you do.

"What's that god awful smell?"
"I go poopy."
"Did you just say that you, uh, you went poopy?"
"Yeah. It was good."
...
"Maybe a change of underwear, son?"
I keep that clip and one other from the movie on my ipod.

There's "retarded" and there's "REtarded." You mention members of the latter group. Particularly computer tech support folks that worship at the altar of Bill. That's not "computer tech support," that's Windows support. Not the same.

Best line from the article...
" The indictment accuses Costello of faking -- or at least exaggerating -- retardation since August 1997"
Hey - maybe he was just exaggerating his retardation. That's not a crime, is it?

That is not in itself a crime. Heck a lot of members on this board do it all the time. But he was getting money for a disability that did not exist. They call that fraud. And when you do it to the government it is probably worse.

Wouldn't the social security benefits received be far less than the lost future income of not getting a proper education? I think that doing well in school would blow the "retarded" cover, so I doubt he ever got any education.

Except if you are disabled AND work for the government.
Then you paycheck is sort of a disability income.
