My problem is just the opposite: connecting to the Internet resets my Sounds Input preference to "Internal Modem" with "Play sound through output device" resulting in a loud buzzing sound through my iMac DV's speakers while connected (unless I manually change the Sounds Input setting back to Internal Mic, of course). Setting the Modem sound to Off seems to have no effect.

Wlonh, I looked there I have a about 10 years mac Experience, No offense taken. I can try and delete the Sound prefs and see if that works. I am also not getting the keychain sound people are talking about either maybe I'll see if the sound pref takes care fo this. Thanks
