Streamy - Right now it's invite only, but the demo video looks interesting..

This is not specifically for designers, but integrates the social utility with the news ranking concept. I'd like to try it out.

Cheesy applications.

I like the concept of apps, I really do, I just wish they had kept the core profile page layout unchangeable, with either an additional column for apps that appear on your profile, or a separate page altogether.

Before, it was really easy to go to someone's profile page and find exactly what you were looking for. Now that intrinsic simplicity has been lost, and lesser-minded users make you wade through a bunch of crap before you can find their wall. Or their "superwall"

They've taken a step closer to myspacery if you ask me.

I think the very involvement of designers would necessarily make such a thing inherently unlike myspace.

designerID is worth checking out. Its owned by a friend and fellow local AIGA board member but it's damn near international by this point. great for getting the feel of a market you might move to, looking for new talent or just generally wasting time.

Cool site. Could you suggest to your friend that they somehow get into contact with the guys responsible for www.core77.com to possibly combine the two?
