I think muppets make better movie characters than 3D characters these days, except their race is going extinct. We aren't seeing any more movies with muppets. This makes me really sad.

When I think back to all of the great muppet characters:

- Valcore from the Neverending Story
- ET
- Yoda
- The Ewalks
- The characters in Labrynth
- Sesame St.

All of these characters kicked ass, and I could continue this list for several pages - there were literally thousands, if not millions of muppet characters! What happened to all of them?

It is time that we start supporting the muppets by calling your local representative and demanding that we stop outsourcing movie work to come dudes in China, and giving work back to the talented muppets. The next time a movie calls for a random scientist to play a role, why not get Dr. Honeydew to play this role? The next time a drummer is needed, it could be Animal. That brown monster from Labrynth could be a monster in a movie, and we could even get David Bowie back to be a despised villan and sing songs. I just finished watching the Transformers. It was okay, but would it have hurt them to put a few Fraggels in there as cameo appearances?

The original Yoda is better than the 3D Yoda for sure. George Lucas should have made the original Jabba the Hut a muppet too, but instead he caved in to pressure from the 3D industry and made him 3D. A guy at work was telling me that Oscar the Grouch was 3D too, which I guess makes sense because nobody really liked him except the lesbian community.

Anyway, I hope my call to arms has inspired you, and that together we can raise public awareness about the plight and extinction of the muppets. We need to find them work, because I'm sick of all of the dumb 3D characters that are in movies now that can't act worth a crap.

The Fragels are mentioned in my original post, did you miss that part?

The Fragels are all much better actors than that orange fish from Finding Nemo, whatever his name was.

Sifl & Olly

Oh sorry, you meant muppets, not puppets.

But still, I'd like to see those geeks do that in 3D.

FYI, it's Fraggles not Fragels.

Anyway, I agree - but there is stuff available. Farscape is a great Sci-Fi series that has some Henson work.

There's also Aardman animation which does great work. (Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run, Creature Comforts, etc.)

You'll be happy to know, besson3c, that Dark Crystal is returning to the big screen. Fully computer-generated.

Fully computer generated

My ass is fully computer generated, but that doesn't mean that people want to see it all the goddamn time.

Can I get some backup here?

What do the Ewoks, Yoda, Grover, Sesame St., Muppet Show, Labyrinth, and more all have in common?

Frank Oz and Jim Henson.

Oz is still around, but all he's done is direct in recent years. Has anyone seen the post-Disney Muppet movies? I haven't bothered to know if they're any good at all.

I beg to differ. They can express just about every emotion there is, even pensive. You wouldn't know this though, because you've fallen victim to the 3D industry propaganda.

Are you sure that orange fish isn't simply related to Nemo or something? I don't remember him being that big or hanging out with that little boy.

Farscape used "muppets" from Jim Hensen Studios.

While the movie overall was lame, I thought Alien v. Predator was really cool on the special effects front. I love live-action props because they make the movie all that more believable. I think it also helps the actors a lot to be interacting with the actual prop rather than a green ball on a stick.

I would love a classic Muppet adventure movie that is good. The last one (Gonzo something or other) was really lame.
