is there a plugin that will let you have an animated .gif as an icon? i know that in chax i can view others animated icon but i can't get my own. is there a way?

Yes you can with a simple program called iChat Streaming Icons. It can be found at this address The nice thing about that app is that you can not only use gifs but just about any other type of quicktime playable file. Hope this is around what you are looking for

yeah thanks twinkie but the only problem with that is you need a serial and name for after about 5 minutes. if you have a cracked serial i would love it. (seeing how i actually know you and all... ;-) )

Doesn't Chax allow animated icons? It's free, as well.
iChat 4 (Leopard) supports animated icons for what it's worth.
