After the trouble you've had -- and if you're ok with what you've read elsewhere about DLINK & PPPoE -- then I'd definitely try something else. Get your money back if you can.

I have never heard of a router that "had problems with PPPoE." It's a straightforward protocol. And if your ISP doesn't show any disconnects, it's probably NOT the PPPoE that's giving you a problem. Can you describe the symptoms that make you think you're disconnecting? Note that with a wireless system there are two connections: the router to the ISP and the computer to the router. Typically the wireless connection is what gives people problems, and there are simple and FREE ways of dealing with that.

The issue of how many simultaneous connections your router can handle is the big thing here. Too many torrents can overwhelm any consumer level router. A router is a small, embedded microcomputer with limited RAM and processor power, so a lot of simultaneous connections could easily use up all of its resources and result in the WAN connection basically freezing. Keeping them down to a manageable level (for the router) should keep you from having these issues. I'll bet you could easily correlate your connection problems with your torrent use...and that should show you exactly where the fix needs to be made.

How many connections per torrent and overall do you allow? I've seen my own connection get hosed for having a few torrents active, but allowing a lot or unlimited per torrent. I limit myself, due to my own bandwidth (3 Mb down, ~400 Kb up) to around 4 active downloads, 200 connections max per torrent, 8 upload slots max per.
