Hey there,
last week had disastrous hard drive crash on my mac.
Luckily I made daily and weekly backups on an external drive with Mac Backup v3, so I have all my data safely backed up till the day the hard drive died out on me.
However, I am currently using a windows (XP) notebook, waiting that my company gets a new hard drive for me.
The problem is that in the meantime I'd like to get my data back, but Backup stored it in .spareseimage files, which I am sure are easy enough to open on a Mac, but I can't find a way to open them on Windows.
Already tried Macdrive, but it does not open .sparseimage files... any ideas?
Thanks,
Andrea

The forum rules say:
Posting Etiquette
Step 1: Search and Research
First, search to see if anyone has posted the same question or item. If you have a question, search for relevant keywords. (It helps to restrict your search to the relevant forum.) Do a general web search for the problem, too — you're probably not the first person to encounter it.
The answer is on the first page of results for the obvious Google query ("open sparseimage windows").

Please indicate which one... because I went through and read them all (yes... before posting on this forum). and did not find anything useful.
Thanks,
Andrea

Sorry, I missed that part. I guess it's not possible then.
How hard is it to get a replacement drive anyway? Last week? This shouldn't take longer than a few hours.

People in different locations get different results from the same Google search for various reasons. You should know that before lecturing people. I don't get a link to that on the first page.

Indeed, now I'm seeing it as the 13th result. Still, a very reasonable number of results to expect the OP to look through.

True, except my Mac died the day before a three week work trip to Norway (where I am now), so I barely had time to get my hands on a replacement PC. Until I get back, I'm stuck with the Windows system.

I saw it, but in order to download the beta version you need to sign up for the beta program first and get approved. I'll to that today and see how long it takes, and I'll let you all know if it works in the end.
