I just purchased a JVC GZ-MG155U and am trying to get my mac to see it. The manual states that you just hook it up and the Everio_hdd icon will show up on my desktop.

It doesn't seem to be doing that. I have tried to get my mac to see it trying both USB and a Firewire but it still won't show up. Restarted - yes.

Any ideas?

Hard drive based camcorders don't work very well on Macs. Does the product list Mac compatibility explicitly?

Yes, I got the list directly from the apple site. That is exactly how I chose this camera.

iMovie ’08 Camcorder Support

It's actually the list that shows compatibility with ilife 08

Does Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility) see it?

Just figured it out. The manual says to make sure the power is off on the camera. I turned on the power and chose direct backup and wallah.

thanks,
