 > About this Mac > More Info

Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.2 GHz

Under Graphics/Displays it will say:

Intel GMA X3100:
Chipset Model: GMA X3100

The GMA X3100 is new to the latest MacBooks.

No MacBooks have Santa Rosa; the November 2007 revision only adds Crestline-GM.

Because they're idiots. Santa Rosa is a platform requiring a Core 2 Duo CPU, 965 (Crestline) chipset, and Intel 3945 (Kedron) wifi; the MacBook has the first two, but not the latter.

You can also tell looking at the box, btw:

If the MacBook on the box has the Leopard "Aurora" desktop and the new Dock, it's the Crestline revision.

Because it IS Santa Rosa - most of it.

Technically, it's "the new notebooks using the Santa Rosa platform's Crestline chipset and Core 2 Duo processors".

Is this a case of "idiots", or just a case of "who gives a ****?"

You decide.
