Now, I know this'll sound like the usual nutcase's rant, but they are slow, and I hate that!
I hate having spent almost 1800€ on my mbpro (it's the basic santa rosa model), and see that spaces and expose stutter heavily, especially when a friend at work was using a ultracheap Celeron with intel X3100 under Linux (offering the same effects), lightyears faster and smoother...

I love OSX, but I hate spaces being so slow (expose varies... first time sucks, then tends to become smoother).

Sorry, had to vent, got too angry yesterday! :-)

Lorenzo

P.S.
I'm curious... what's the mileage on MacBooks?
If it's similar, then are we really using a non hardware accelerated gui?

17" hi-res display 2.4Ghz 4GB MBP here, and both Expose and Spaces are very fast and smooth.

I've noticed that the 3D "glass" Dock makes the Genie effect, Spaces, and Dashboard really choppy on my MBP. They were flawlessly smooth in Tiger, but noticed the choppiness upon installing Leopard.

Turning off the glass and making my Dock 2D-on-black brought things back up to Tiger-level smoothness.

Strange. I have a relatively shitty PowerBook and mine isn't choppy.
