Hi
following situation: I live in a dorm and to connect to the internet I was given an IP address.
When I type in the given details I connect without problems.
But when I try to connect an airport extreme base station I am unable to connect! Whenever I type in the custom ID and then update the base station, the settings always jump back to the original IP...
any idea or help here?
Dom

Are you trying to add the AE basestation to act as a wireless point on the school's network?

Some school networks don't allow wireless network points to be added to the existing infrastructure (or ethernet hubs for that matter). It might be worthwhile to check and make sure your school is allowing the airport base station to access the network.
grr.

ok, just to be sure: it is possible that the network setting recognize the difference between a base station and a mac (cuz when I enter the ip I have no problems to connect using my mac)???
Cheers

that's right, didn't look properly regarding the forum.
I tried everything, including bridge mode.
