Is there an easy way to share some or all of a home folder between two different machines? I'm looking to get an iMac for the office but have a laptop "sync'd up" and ready to go on a minute's notice if I have to go somewhere.

I'm not necessarily looking for instant realtime sync'ing but to have (say) way to daily sync between the two. Is there a particular software you'd reco for this besides those complete backup solutions? And no, I don't use .Mac services.

Thanks!

You can move your home folder to a flash drive or a portable HD.

macosxhints.com - 10.5: Easily change the location of your home directory <-- Info on how to do it.

Why not do instant realtime syncing? https://www.foldershare.com/ makes it easy and is free.

Don't want to use a third party service for a variety of reasons ranging from security to accessibility and availability. Just simple host-to-host syncing is all I need.

...or just do what I posted earlier, much less fuss than rsync.

What you suggested doesn't seem to solve the problem he has.

Actually ChronoSync seems to fit the bill for me, and I'll probably go down that route as opposed to CLI-based solutions.
