Just released a few minutes ago. I'm downloading now. Ready for SDK now maybe?

Okay, this is all for the iPod touch, I don't know about the iPhone. Maps is much snappier, especially Location Finder. Safari also seems a bit faster. No Flash. .Mac Web Galleries seem to work better now. Other than those few things, nothing really seems a whole lot different.

Ha ha. I was hoping it would foreshadow the SDK today, but apparently not.

Hmmm...still shows me in the exact same spots as before (which is to say that it's close, but still a quarter-mile or so off).

If this fixes the SMS "out of order" bug, then I'll be happy just for that. I'm obsessive-compulsive, so that was a pretty big deal when it started occurring.

I was wondering if anyone noticed an increase in signal strength, or fewer dropped calls?

I noticed a LOT more dropped calls, and wildly fluctuating signal strength after 1.1.3 - in the middle of a call, the strength meter would drop to 1 or 0 bars, and I'd get a failed call. Also, If I was on a subway, it would take several minutes for the phone to pick up a signal again outside.

Increase in dropped phone calls with iPhone software 1.1.3 - iPhone Atlas

iPhone 1.1.4 boosts cell signal strength - iPhone Atlas

Curious as to peoples results - I havent updated yet-

I have noticed that Cover Flow works much better. When you go into it now the album art doesn't rotate, it just fades. Also it seems very very smooth now (I have over 160 high resolution covers too)

My dropped calls issue went away. Could be a coincidence.. not necessarily scientific.

True, but I bet it is because of the update. Dropped calls is a bug, and the update was "Bug fixes."

Can anyone comment on 802.1X connectivity?

I was downloading yesterday, excited to see if this finally worked, and low and behold my computer crapped out on me right after 1.1.4 downloaded but before it got put on my phone. Some luck!

IEEE 802.1X - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Is what I meant, and what I've been hoping each iPhone update will bring...

IEEE 802.11 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Is what you're thinking of

The former is a WPA security used by most universities that requires both a User name AND password to login. Mac OS X handles this fine (oddly, it did better in 10.4 than 10.5) but it's strangely missing from the iPhone/iPod touch, especially considering the iTunes U stuff Apple is trying to do at many universities.

I just wanted to chime in to say I'm getting a distinctly improved signal after the 1.1.4 update. I'm in a rural location and I used to get no signal at all inside my building. Now I'm getting a solid 2 bars.

well i'm certainly hoping 1.1.4 fixes my chronic "CALL FAILED" issue... it's to the point where i can't even have a single phone conversion without at least one drop during the conversation... BEYOND frustrating!!! .... especially considering prior to 1.1.3 my dropped calls were pretty much non-existent and never had reception issues until 1.1.3...

so i'm seriously hoping 1.1.4 magically fixed the dropped/failed calls... otherwise the iphone is going back to the apple store for a new iphone (i'm on my third one... my first two crapped out... needed replacing...)

peace

I assume you're referring to the earpiece speaker then... You may want to try plugging in the headphones and then unplugging them - there's an intermittent bug in which the phone forgets it's not in headphone mode. This has happened to me, Andes usually a quick fix...

speaking of the earpiece... does anyones iPhone, when you talking to someone, and they say something loud get like a buzz in you ear? like when it's a loud sound the speaker sounds blary. it feels like i just got zapped! annoying!
