Don't you hate it when someone you grew up with pops into your head and you want to try and shoot them an email or something, but no matter how hard you try, you just can find them?

From a general internet search, to MySpace, to Facebook, to Classmates, to Classreport -- it's like the person just dropped off the face of the earth. Sure, I could do a search at the office and pull up their records and such -- but that's over the top to just say "hey."

I guess you'd think it would be easier to find people in this day and age, but it seems it's getting more and more difficult to seek out an individual -- unless that person has made a findable online identity.

Oh well. Where else can you look to try and find someone?

I've found that people I want to contact may not even have an e-mail address. Now that makes it hard to casually get in touch with them.

Do you know what country they are likely to be in?

There's AnyWho, which is a white pages directory. There's an option for viewing email results, but I've no idea how well it works.

Too well -- I just removed myself from it. The bad thing is the whole potential name change due to marriage, etc.

So you posted about trying to find someone, then when a link to a phone directory that lets you find people is posted, your response is to remove yourself from it? Is there a double standard here?

To an extent, yes, but I'm looking for an electronic means of contact -- I don't want to just show up at someone's door.

"You'll get nothing and like it!!"

usually the times around big class reunions make it easier to find people; through word of mouth and 6 (or 12 degrees) of separation you find them.
