From what I read, the symbol should be only used on hardware to show that is has firewire and should not be altered in anyway. He might be violating one of those but what are they going to do?

The mark may only be used with a (free) license, and only on compliant hardware. Not taking steps to prevent trademark dilution is a dangerous step for a company. I think they will be obliged to initially issue a takedown notice, and then sue if he does not have it removed.

Anyone is free to use it. Post a picture on here and I'll make fun of you.
The only tattoo I have is a dot the size of a period on my forearm. I got it when all of my friends were into tattooing. I was really close to getting the word "tattoo" on my arm, or the phrase "This is permanent".
I don't think I would regret either that much today, but I'm still glad I didn't get it done.

Oh .. and yes he earned the money to have it done.
Now here is my next tattoo ... What do you think?? Actually CATSCEO said NOOOOO!!!!!

Thankfully, YOU'RE refraining from being negative and getting on anyone's case.

That's funny. I would have skipped the numbers and made the logo about 1/3 the size, but I don't think the symbol is bad at all. Sort of abstract like the "power symbol," but less cliché.

i can't believe I let this thread get to four pages before I stepped in a offered my opinion. Slacking
I am not a fan of tattoos. But you know, if you like it, and it means something to you, try not to be bothered by other people's honest, and tasteful, opinions. Also, don't expect everyone to like it or understand your reasons. FWIW, It is cooler than having someone's face who has never met you tattooed on your body, or something tattooed just to get a tattoo.

CATS- when did you turn 18? Or is it dif where you live? I don't mind your tat. People always ask what a tat means regardless of what it is. At least yours is unique and not something off a wall. As for the comparison to Zune man, I disagree. CATS has a symbol more so than a logo. And as for the size of his biceps- as far as I can see Mr. CATS has been stretching out over his growing years and looks fine. Why are you guys always so judgemental?

That's just semantics. Apple's documentation refers to it as both a symbol and a logo.

Okay, well at least it is not an emo tattoo.
That would definitely spark regret, in a few weeks.

Who cares, it's important to him. A lot of people posting here are acting like he's telling them to get the tattoo. The important thing is, that he wanted it. Its not what others think but what he thinks.

Well, if what others think was not important, why the hell did he create a freaking thread about it?

Then I wanted to get a Yankees tattoo, but they sucked for 12 years.
An Apple tattoo? Well, who knows what could happen. Steve could decide that Apple's going to breed ponies in 5 years.
I dunno.
I then thought about original artwork. At least it's mine
Why not get a Dell tattoo?
Bet no one has one of those... (maybe Ballmer, but you wouldn't see him on a beach)

Spoken like someone who had to support some truly miserable sports organizations (cough lions cough) (when you lived in MI, anyway).
