How do I copy a file to a read only USB-SD memory card in a Lumix G1 camera?

I downloaded and unpacked the firmware update, which has to be copied to the SD card.
BUT, the card is read only. (MacOSX 10.4.11)

How do I copy a file to a read only USB-SD memory card in a Lumix G1 camera?

Read-only means you cannot write. There is no trick to that. You have to find out why the card is read-only. SD cards have a small slider on the left side that `lock' your card, i. e. they make it read-only.

So if you have accidentally locked the card, then it is read only. Another possibility is that it is locked in software. Then, I'd try to format the card on your camera and see if that changes anything.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Problem solved: I needed to use a SD card reader. The SD disk is read write when the SD is inserted in the USB card reader; the SD disk is read only when it is in the camera and hooked to the Mac with a cable.
