I was a bit shocked by the Regeneration. I did not expect it at all, although with that running scene towards the end, I could not help but expect there would be something bad.
I'm excited for next week.

The scene at the end where the Doctor was running towards Rose had me beaming. I didn't see him being shot by the Dalek. I thought Rose was going to die because of the Dalek saying something about the most faithful companion.
This spoiler is more about the show in general and its future, not particularly about this episode.
I read that David Tennant's role as the Doctor would be ending in the fourth season and that Robert Carlyle might be the next Doctor.
I'm excited to see what happens next week in regards to the regeneration.
I hope David Tennant stays as the doctor since I really like him.

Is there something in the Sci-Fi Channel's contract that says it has to be a whole friggin' month behind?

No Tennant is signed up for the four feature length specials being made instead of teh 2009 season. He's also been offered a whopping pay rise to stick around for the 2010 season, so it seems fairly certain he'll be surviving next weeks finale.

The secret has to be in the 'Hand!'!
It was cut to twice needlessly, and seen under the console all the time... Also, in 'The Doctor's Daughter', when she died, she regenerated into the same body, so I think we will see Tennant for a long time yet...

I'm not certain that they are out and gone. This is sci-fi, and neither of them actually died. Who is to say whether the universes collapse again and Rose gets another gateway through. Although it did seem like her 'happy ever after', never say never. Donna would be harder to get back into it herself, but I'm holding out a hope for Grandad Wilf to make an appearance now and then in the future, Bernard Cribbins was great in that part. Daleks will be back, Davros will be back (again, you didn't see them actually die, and in sci-fi world, that means they didn't), Martha and Mickey walked off with Jack so they'll be the new crew in Torchwood.
Oh and the German Daleks were a nice touch

Donna was infused with the time particles on Runaway Bride, she's linked to the TARDIS. I'm hoping that will somehow help her cope with having the Doctor's mind, maybe she'll look into the heart of the TARDIS and it'll fix her somehow. It's getting frustrating that they introduce these great characters and they're only there for 1 or 2 seasons.
The German-speaking Daleks were awesome.

Finally saw it. Holy cow, I did not like this finale at all. It felt like just way too much stuff. There were moments where it seemed to be going great, but it managed to turn things around every time and come up with an unsatisfying resolution.
And abandoning Rose in the parallel world with Doctor Two? Way to stomp on the ending of Doomsday. Why couldn't he just take them both in the TARDIS, aside from Billie Piper's availability? I suppose it might have helped if they'd made the other Doctor seem like the Doctor, but in fact he just seemed like David Tennant standing there looking needy. That was so out of character for both Doctors.

I think Phil Plait said it best: Like the Doctor himself, I think Davies needs someone to hold him back sometimes.
Can’t wait to see what Moffat has in store for us. Too bad it’s going to be the longest wait in the world though.

So who's replacing Donna? I totally forgot she really was temporary. Is Martha Jones coming back, or is the actress going over to Torchwood?
Oh yeah. "Oi! Watch it space man!"

The way it ended Mickey and Martha are probably in Torchwood.
I think this was RTD's big finale, throwing everything at it that he could. He's still writing and co-writing the specials next year, but this was the series end so wanted to go on a big finish before using next year to hand over. On the previous form of the casting for new characters, there is a chance that they could pick someone who has played a minor part before in Who or Torchwood to be the new assistant, they did this with Freema Agyeman, and Eve Myles was in the 'Unquiet Dead' Doctor Who episode before Torchwood (it was a nice touch linking up Gwen with the 'Unquiet Dead' character too).
I'm looking forward to Moffat's run at the series, the ones he has written have been the stand out episodes so far, and if he writes more of them being in charge, its got to be a good thing.

I did the same, but then when it seemed like they started putting two weeks between every single episode, I got fed up.

They should have paid Tennant whatever he asked to stay on for a few episodes prior to regeneration. Then they should have picked someone other than Smith.

There are going to be a few interseason episodes with Tennant. He'll probably regenerate in the last one of those.

Doctor Who was a great show, how ever I stopped watching since season1 and I don't have the sci-fi channel anymore so I'll probably buy it on DVD when I get some money. . .

Now the next Doctor's first companion has been announced.
Yah, she's young which'll bring the inevitable Rose comparisons, but she's Scottish and I can't see them having her being as much of a clingy idiot as Rose wound up. Might have a companion with fire and kick and who can hold her own against the Doctor's occasional flake-outs.
Yes, I'm pulling the "No true Scotsman" card on this one. Besides, if they let her use her normal accent, I'll likely not care anyway....

You know, with the new Fisher-Price Doctor and this companion, I would totally lack faith in this series if it weren't for Steven Mofatt. But that dude's a genius, so I'm holding out a lot of hope.

After Tom Baker left Dr Who I lost all interest in it for twenty years. His replacements, wearing celery or clown costumes, were just stupid IMO. Tennant has been a terrific Dr Who (too good perhaps) and I fear the next bloke might show up wearing a tutu or something.
But wait... a hot redhead companion! Ah, all's well then. I'll be watching.

A hot, redheaded Scottish companion. If she sounds anything like Shirley Manson of Garbage.... well, won't care about anything else, really. Though if she's able to stand toe-to-toe with the Doctor and keep him focused, all the better.

Anyone see the new special? How awesome was that? The theme with Ten has always been his megalomania (he's a "lonely god"), and now it looks like he actually can do the impossible. Great character development for the Doctor. I can't wait to see how Davies ends it all. Glad the next one is only a month away.

Saw it and really liked it. I know people read this who might not have be up to date yet, so that's as much as I'm saying in the open for this and the Christmas finale. Spoiler mode here we come...
Alright then. It was a good one, good to see what the Doctor is like without the 'moral compass' of a companion, it was (mostly) a very dark episode. It could have done without the 'gadget gadget' robot, and the 'Back to the Future' burning track lines when it got tweaked to get away from the water zombies. I read a few reviews saying there were a few other film references, but I've not seem the films so I wouldn't have got them (somebody looking up and water dripping on their face, from either 28 Days Later or 28 Weeks Later?)
The trailer for the last 2 looked great. John Simm confirmed as the Master (no Daleks/Cybermen, which is what I was expecting as a big finish). According to the wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_End...me_(Doctor_Who) there will also be Sarah Jane, Captain Jack, Donna Noble and Grandad Wilf, Rose and Jackie Tyler, Captain Jack and more. Looks like they're going all out for the send off.

i enjoyed it a lot - the doctor is kind of losing it - he is fearing death big time and now he is starting to go outside of what the doctor has always done - not obeying the laws of time - doing things his way because he knows the end is near

Loved the Christmas and New Years special... though I was hoping that the Time Lords were actually trapped within the Master's head... that would have been cooler. My room mate and I came up with the theory that the Master was gonna use that machine to replace every human on earth with a Time Lord, and then the Doctor was going to have to either kill his people or humanity.
Either way though, aside from the overly long ending... it was great... it's strange that the Doctor saves Martha and Mikey's life, as well as Luke's but then all he does for Jack is gets him laid.

A bit of a challenge to save the life of someone who can't die. Even for the Doctor.
