I can only get excited by two games at a time, and those slots are filled with New Vegas and Portal 2.
If there is a huge following on my friends list then I will heavily consider it.

Two non-multiplayer games. Fatty's gonna disappear.

That's where I fall right now. I was excited about it, but my local friends are all wishy-washy on whether or not they'll play it.

I was hoping for a Black Ops snub and subsequent MW2 revival to keep my multi fix going this winter, but I'm not sure that's gonna happen.
I'll say this, it's either Black Ops or Reach. No way I'm buying both.

I predict both games will get the Burnout Paradise treatment.

From what I've seen, Black Ops look to have more life in it.

There is at least a 25% chance of this happening.
If Dakar and Cheezy get Reach then I'm sold. If play is split up between the two games I'll probably get neither.

Besides the possibility of new Zombies, I don't see how I am going to get any more, or different amounts of enjoyment out of Black Ops over...say MW2. Small nitpicky differences aside, it's a game that bears an incredible likeness to CoD multiplayer in general, and therefore does not excite me.
Since I haven't gone more than two hours in MW2 single-player, I consider any CoD to be a multiplayer game only.
Reach, on the other hand, will most likely get me playing the campaign, especially since it is co-op.

I am not getting black ops though, that would cut into new Vegas time

Don't do it on my account. Euthyphro, saint, and subie are all getting Reach and playing it until Black Ops comes out. Put a gun to my head and its BO every time. Sadly, I am in a financial position where I can afford both without any hardship. Thus, the temptation (or peer pressure) looms.
Edit: This is a L4D situation. I didn't want to buy it, but I'd play it if I had it. Luckily I got that for xmas that year.

I just and played Halo 3 for the first time yesterday. It made me realize how dated the game is. The multiplayer was fun, but I felt like I was casually jogging everywhere. Maybe that's due to months of playing the lightning-fast MW2, but the entire game just feels kind of dated. It wasn't that pretty either.
I hope Reach makes a gigantic leap forward. None of you were in on the beta, were you?

What made it feel "dated"? Because the jogging is their gameplay mechanic. (and one I frequently cite on why I've moved on)

The graphics, the jogging, the weapon system, and something was odd about the responsiveness of the controls.

I like the control that games like MW2 and B:BC2 give you over your weapons. Unless I'm mistaken and missed something, Halo 3 just dumps you on a map, and you've got to go find them. It's an outdated system. No one does it anymore.
I realize that Halo: Reach has incorporated loadouts into it's system, which I'm happy about. I was just wondering if anyone could comment on the feel/speed of the game.

Yes! The GoldenEye system! I was ok with it when I started playing until I started noticing that entire games would be dominated by spawn location weapon camping. Again, once you go loadout you don't wanna go back.

How did they incorporate them? $5 says you still have to go find the good weapons. It's probably limited the the AR, BR, Pistol, and a Elite weapon or two.

Yeah, you're pretty much right: 1UP - Bungie Details Halo: Reach Load Outs
Pre-made Load Outs can be chosen before a round begins, and can also be changed during a round while you wait to respawn. As the update explains, "Load Outs are not player created or defined, but rather playlist and/or game type specific. Essentially, they allow you to choose your Armor Ability, your starting primary and secondary weapons, and your grenade cache on the fly."
But while custom-made Load Outs won't be an option, the types of Load Outs available will be different depending on the gameplay mode. "For some playlists, that might mean every Load Out features the same weapon sets with only the Armor Abilities to distinguish them. For others, it might mean that as the game goes on, you'll have access to more and more choices based on a number of factors we can fiddle with."

That's basically no different than how it was before, only they no have added Armor Abilities to the mix. I guess having more than one is an improvement, but that also cuts down on bitching that happens when you don't start with a BR on like any map.

Honestly I love COD loadouts and game types and killstreaks but I can't help but feel that a large majority of fights come down to who saw who first and fired. In halo someone can get the drop on you or get the first shot and you still have a huge opportunity to win the battle. I agree the jumping is floaty (it IS turned down in reach, the beta proved that) but for a run and gun style Halo really appeals to me.

Meh, in Halo it comes down to who has the better weapon. And jumped better.

Depth is the issue.
I had more fun with the first Halo than perhaps any game ever, but I'm not sure if it was the fact that LAN parties with people you know are 100x times more enjoyable than online play, or if it was the fact that the game wasn't that complicated. I have Reach pre-ordered, and I'll go through with it (I might even go pick it up at midnight), but I'm still not positive I'm going to get as into it.

I think MAGs lack of success and developer contempt for hosting servers is enough to ensure this won't be tried again until next generation at earliest.

Controls: bad. Pacing: bad. Ice-skating: bad. Balance: bad. Maps: bad.

Loadouts are fine but they don't help you when you're getting spawn f**ked by a team of noob tubers with Danger Close on maps like Trailer Park. Besides, if Halo 3 had loadouts, then everyone would be carrying a spartan laser as their secondary weapon. Say goodbye to all that vehicle combat you loved so much.

Halo CE was awesome in so many ways, but it's those same ways that Bungie has not changed since then that make a game like H3 feel dated.
Things I like about the Halo-verse:
- I like the floaty gravity, most of the game does take place on a ring-world and you are a huge powerful robot and all.
- I like the limited weapon inventory.
- I love the grenades, especially stickies (Bogues agrees no doubt)
- I like how you can get the drop on someone and still die, or vise versa. MW2 comes down to who saw who first 99% of the time.
Things I am tired of in the Halo-verse:
- Starting weapon choices in multiplayer and the inevitable race for the <insert powerful weapon here>
- Not being able to at least sprint for a short period is silly. A giant robot that can melee huge aliens should have the power to put a spring in his step once and a while.
- The enemies. I thought leaving Elites out of the H3 campaign was really lame. The variety of enemies is almost laughable at this point anyways, don't remove any. I also find the grunts to be far to silly.
Things Bungie nailed the fist time and should never change:
- Vehicle controls and physics. The Warthog was a little slippery in Halo CE, but on the whole the vehicles are light years ahead of any other shooter than has vehicle sections. From the transition from first person to third, and back again, they really can't improve here IMO.
- Music. H2 really set the bar for musical scores in video games, and watching some Reach videos they still have the "just got in a Warthog for the first time" driving music and I love it.
The only part I am not, in the least, getting any interest out of from Reach is the campaign. I dunno what it is, I just don't give a sh!t about whatever is going on in with that story anymore. Not saying that I won't love to go 4 payer co-op, but as far as me, playing by myself....no interest at all.

You said, "once you go loadout you don't wanna go back." I'm disagreeing with you. Loadouts wouldn't work as well on Halo because it would kill the vehicle combat. Jerk store

I never said anything about combining the two. Duh.
(and there's barely any vehicle combat in Halo to begin with)

If that's MWs flaw, Halo' is the "there's no cover, I can't sprint and I'm getting pelted by three BRs from half a map away." Which is pretty much all I saw when I tried the Mythic maps out.
Also there's sticky grenade's in MW2 suckos.
Anyway, I should get to kill a guy if I catch them unawares. MW might come down to who sees whom first scoring the kill, but that completely ignores that things like UAVs and good teammates negate that.
