I just got a spiffy new Samsung 2TB thru Newegg for $79, so far so good so cheap.
While I'm shuffling a few drives around here to organize things the best I wanted to take out
a Hitachi Deskstar 1TB and keep in the garage as an occasional backup to throw in my USB dock when I need to.
Now I'm seeing it won't mount on this dock it just loudly clicks and searches. I put it back in the MacPro bay and it works again.

Anyone know what's the deal? Is is a hardware compatibility issue on this particular drive with USB (it is a powered dock) and would it work if I got a PCIe eSata card/port and matching eSata dock?

A few years ago I got the dock because the Samsung Spinpoint wouldn't mount in my MP1,3 w/Panther.
Now it seems I have the opposite problem with the Hitachi...

I did a search on this and can't find any issues on the problem at all.
THX in advance!
