Hey Guys,

I have a Lacie 1TB external usb 2 hard drive. Its one of the "rugged" ones.

The other day it failed. I cant see it in disk utility at all. Also it doesnt mount when i plug it into the usb port.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Standard advice: pull the HD out of the enclosure, and test it in another enclosure. Or a spare bay if you have a Mac Pro or PowerMac.

The enclosures seem to be less reliable than HDs. More often than not, the drive itself is OK.

Oh, you might try a different USB cable to a different port. Eliminate both as possible causes.
