Samsung continues to hold top place in RescueCom ranking of the most reliable computer brands. The firm's scores are determined by balancing each company's US marketshare versus the number of repair calls handled by Level 3 RescueCom technicians. In Q3 figures, Samsung holds a score of 694; coming in a distant second is Apple at 259, which RescueCom notes is less than half of what it managed in Q2.
Lenovo/IBM, HP, Dell, and Acer have remained largely static, coming in at 3rd, 6th, 7th, and 8th place, respectively. Toshiba, however, has risen from 7th to 5th place.
Significantly, RescueCom's
numbers are based not just on desktops and laptops, but also tablets. The Apple iPad is the dominant tablet in the US, even if non-Apple tablets have been gaining ground in the past year. Within RescueCom's formula, combined Mac and iPad sales make Apple the largest individual computer maker in the US, holding a 23.5 percent share. HP and Dell are the next biggest at 17.8 percent and 13.7 percent.
