Started a game, dicked around a bit by myself and got halfway to level 4.
Very pretty game, but like Borderlands I'm not seeing much fun unless I have teammates.

I'm also starting to lose some interest in it. Got to level 10 on my own, but since all people I know on PSN are playing on PS4 rather than PS3, I have no real chance of enjoying group content at all until I upgrade.
Le sigh...

At this point I think a Borderlands MMO (or at least more than $+) type game would be more interesting. But it'd need a marketplace and weapon creation. And I don't think 2K is up to the task.

Borderlands can be very enjoyable solo just for the humor alone at least, but yes, it is much more fun with friends. I kind of want to play now...

That's exactly right. Luckily, there's a fairly consistent crew that I've been playing alongside, so I'm not over the game yet.
I'm willing to bet we'll return to it for the DLC, go away for a while, and then return again with a new release. It'll be a cycle.

Sharp was talking about selling Destiny last night. He doesn't like the multi and found the world to be much shallower than he expected.

This is the sense I got from the alpha/beta. PS4 continues to sit unused...

I feel your pain. I tried this out a little tonight. Worse matchmaking system I've ever played. I'm level 15, the lowest level guy I get matched with is and ENTIRE team of level 27 with all legendary gear. Then after doing decent against the odds and come in first on the team, I get NOTHING, the next match we get creamed, and nothing. Moral of the story don't bother doing multiplayer unless you are level 25+, it's a waste of time.

Having fun with Destiny, but I've been mainly playing the story missions so far, with a few control and patrol games. I can see the game was based off of Halo, with a few new things from maybe borderlands. It's just taken me awhile to find things as Bungie seems to hide them behind the scenes. The medal system is still there, challenges are still there, just called bounties. The public events and strike missions are fun. It's nice to have some choice of weapons, although I haven't been given much choice in rocket launchers. I finally bought one.
Its all fresh and new for now, I'll see if I get bored of it.

With Shadow of Mordor and FIFA taking up all of my game playing time, I'm currently failing to muster up the interest to hop back onto Destiny.

But that the Destiny world is shallow, I'll agree with that. The strike missions seem to have some depth to the map (I'd get to the point on some maps, what there's more?!? That's a long map). Bot the overall world doesn't have much depth and maybe that will come with the DLC or maybe not.
If he's bored of the game, move on to another game and come back when the DLC comes out.
I'm still not bored, every time I get comfortable with this game, they decide to change things... I'm at level 20, where levelling changes.

I finally got my first piece of legendary armor yesterday. Got a pair of gauntlets after completing the daily challenge. I was pretty stoked to level up to 25 because I've been stuck at 24 for over a week now. After completing a few strikes, I moved over to the Crucible to complete a few bounties.
About three matches in I get another purple engram. This time for a pair of boots. Two legendary engrams in one night? Amazing! I was pretty ecstatic until I got back to the Cryptarch and found out that the boots require a Hunter class. I'm currently a Warlock.
DAMN YOU BUNGIE!!!

You can't trade gear with other players in Destiny. Stupid I know. I just placed it in my locker. If I decide to play through again with the Hunter class, I will have legendary boots waiting for me.

What the heck should I be spending glimmer on? There seems to be little use for it.
The weapons you can buy with glimmer are terrible. Buy ships? Sparrows? I already bought one ship and was given a third( I'm counting the first one we're given).
FYI... I'm level 20 and starting to get rare armor with small amounts of light.

Glimmer is pretty much useless once you reach level 20. Rare Coins and Motes of Light are what you want to collect for Legendary and Exotic gear/weapons.

I guess I'll spend it on heavy ammo packs. Those might come in useful in strike missions, although it may be a pain using them. You'd have to find shelter and go to the menu.
Yeah, as for the other currencies, I have been collecting a few of those rare coins and motes of light. Also the crucible marks and Vanguard marks.

Ammo packs feature heavy in a legendary bounty, as in "buy a shitload, and give them to me."

Currently level 22. Almost done the campaign, I have one story mission left and one strike mission on Mars to do. Then I can concentrate on getting the weekly max Vanguard or Crucible marks and some more Legenday or Exotic weapons.

I hopped on again two nights ago. I'm nearing up on level 23, but I just don't think I have the grind left in me. I've got a crazy-busy week, but I anticipate next week will consist of me using every night to plow through Shadow of Mordor instead of repeating the same boring process in Destiny.

The art design is ridiculously generic, and I'm not impressed with it at all. Too many pieces of armor are too similar, colors aren't truly customizable, and there's just a general lack of life. I think they just put all of their thought into gameplay and over-world concepts, but the character design got shafted.
But yeah, I still keep hopping on from time to time.

I ran into some buddies over the weekend who had both jumped from Xbox to PS4 (sensing a bit of a trend in this regard) both of them love Destiny so at least I can experience the game with a fire-team in my time zone.
no offense Crosbie!

No offense taken. The huge gap in our rankings (almost level 28) would make it difficult to play on the same fire-team.
