Thanks, Badkosh.
This BS has been happening every years since 2004. It's one of the main reasons I'm not fond of touchscreen voting.
That said, I would hope most voters would notice.

And this is precisely why touch screen voting machines should have a paper audit trail.

Yes, that's right. One for the precinct and one for me. No one likes extra paper, but I'll put up with it to preserve the sanctity of the vote.

Won't use an electronic machine myself either.
Though I should note, Schaumburg is not Chicago.

What would you do, absentee instead? What if you found out on arrival?
BTW, I found out you can only get absentee ballots in PA with a valid reason. i.e., no being lazy.

Wait... doesn't an early vote mean you're ignorant?

As of yet, we're still given a choice. Last election there were two electronic machines in my precinct, and a dozen paper ones.
Edit: so far, AFAICT, they're meant more for people with poor vision.

Or the exact opposite. Or partisan.

Something about it makes me uncomfortable.

Given O'Keefe's penchant for slicing and dicing his "expose" videos to portray his preferred narrative rather than simply recording what actually happened in its entirety .... color me skeptical at best.

This is ripe for shenanigans.
Braced for Voter Fraud in Colorado | National Review Online
But there is a significant difference in this year’s Senate race. In 2013, a new Democratic state legislature rammed through a sweeping and highly controversial election law and convinced Democratic governor John Hickenlooper to sign it. The law, known as House Bill 1303, makes Colorado the only state in the country to combine two radical changes in election law: 1) abolishing the traditional polling place and having every voter mailed a ballot and 2) establishing same-day registration, which allows someone to appear at a government office and register and vote on the same day without showing photo ID or any other verifiable evidence that establishes identity. If they register online a few days before, no human being ever has to show up to register or vote. A few keystrokes can create a voter and a “valid” ballot. Once a ballot cast under same-day registration is mixed in with others, there is no way to separate it out if the person who voted is later found ineligible. Other jurisdictions that have same-day registration, such as Washington, D.C., treat the vote as a provisional ballot pending verification. Colorado immediately counts the vote.

If our immigration policies bore a glancing resemblance to something rational, I'd be more pissed off about illegal immigrants voting. I certainly have little desire to put the squeeze on legit citizens to combat the fallout from our idiotic policy.
I'll also say, as I've said before, it's doubtful the illegal immigrant voting population votes the same way I do. I'm not trying to fluff up my poll numbers. This is a principle thing.
Of course, as this relates to voter ID laws, the article correctly points out the majority of illegal immigrants who vote... have IDs.

I have found that things are far worse than is usually reported. I wish all poll tenders and election officials were required to wear video cameras for a week or so leading up to the elections and until the vote is certified. This might have made it more difficult to magically show up with a trunk full of votes.

Maybe you should mobilize a bunch of people to screen out illegal immigrants at voting stations around the country?

Interestingly, all of the hue and cry over potential voter fraud in Texas seems to be aimed at possible actual people showing up and claiming to be valid voters when they aren't. Here in Bexar County, we've used electronic voting machines for many years without any complaints - from EITHER side - that their results are being manipulated.
The same is not true of paper absentee ballots, which are often a bone of contention. The local Republicans figure that most absentees here are military and "by God they're all Republican" as far as the local Republicans are concerned, so any time the absentee results aren't in the Republicans' favor, they raise an uproar. I am sorry for them, since I can speak with authority that the political makeup of the Armed Forces casting absentee ballots is usually pretty close to that of the "stay at home" population.
Since there's plenty of noise about absentee balloting, I have the feeling that both sides are pretty comfortable with our machines. Now in other counties, there could be all sorts of other stuff afoot, but not here as far as I can see.

It looks like the Pennsylvania machine issue was more about the touchscreen calibration than the specific candidates involved... At least I hope that's what it was, given that the screen was recalibrated and the machine returned to service.
I can't imagine a way that a local political operative could mess with the way votes are recorded within one of those machines. They're not just simple touch screen terminals...at least they're supposed to be more than that.

That was the claim on the Illinois machine, too. I don't know if it actually solved the problem, though.

I would like that, because if you did you could find Badkosh when you get back and scare the necromancy out of him by making up something about the gay liberal Mexicans in ISIS you found ruling America.

BadKosh: don't be dumb. If there is voter fraud it is either random, or a result of whomever is paying off Diebold or whomever is building these machines. Diebold will surely happily accept money from any willing politician: Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Green, Dixiecrat, Tea Party, Communist, Socialist, etc.
All of your daily rage is pretty much misdirected. What is going on in this country is not a result of eeevvviillll liberals, but corrupt politicians of all kinds and their lobbyists. These entities want you to be riled up just as you are into watching and cheering on your favorite political party so that you are distracted from what is really going on.
You are playing their game the way they want you to.

Translated you mean you didn't actually READ the linked article.
Excerpt:
"... it compared how voters in Frederick County filled out jury duty statements compared with their voting records. The group’s investigation found that thousands of people in Frederick County who stated that they are not U.S. citizens on jury duty forms went on to cast votes in elections. Either they failed to tell the truth when they were summoned for jury duty, or they cast illegal votes. Both are crimes. The same group previously found that about 40,000 people are registered to vote in both Virginia and Maryland.
It is a federal crime to cast votes if you are not legally eligible to vote. Non-citizens, whether in the country legally or not, are prohibited from voting in most local and all state and federal elections. Yet the VVA investigation found that hundreds of non-citizens have been voting in Frederick County, Maryland. One in seven Maryland residents are non-U.S. citizens.
“The lawsuit is the equivalent of the lookout spotting the iceberg ahead of the Titanic,” state Del. Pat McDonough told the Tatler. He added that the group’s investigation found a voter fraud “smoking gun.”
Maryland state law makes it easier for non-citizens, both those present legally and those in the country against the law, to vote. Maryland issues drivers licenses to legal and illegal aliens. Driver’s licenses in turn make it easier under the Motor Voter law to register to vote. Maryland also offers copious taxpayer-funded social programs to non-citizens in the state.
The group filed suit in Baltimore’s U.S. District Court on Friday. They are suing the Frederick County Board of Elections and the Maryland State Board of Elections.
Del. Pat McDonough (R-Baltimore and Harford Counties) detailed the alleged fraud in a Maryland press conference today. He is calling for a special state prosecutor because the fraud may be taking place statewide, with significant impact on Maryland elections. Maryland currently holds 10 electoral votes in presidential elections. McDonough is also proposing legislation including voter ID to close the loopholes that he says non-citizens are using to cast votes."
Gee Besson, looks like YOU were being dumb. Not surprised though.

Occam's razor would make me conclude people lied to get out of jury duty. No one likes jury duty. But that's not to say there isn't a possibility that the reverse happened. I'll be curious if anything comes of this in the future.

BadKosh, how did you derive my general statements as being some sort of argument against any specific individual case of voter fraud?
... Then again, maybe I don't care enough to really want to know.

The system IS broken. The problem is those who should have been doing a better job weren't. It seems the state election boards are a bunch of lazy slackers, and have never been held accountable by the the (questionably) elected officials.

I have to agree with the "I'm much too interested in getting out of jury duty to actually tell the truth on the jury questionnaires" camp. For a lot of people, those of us who have actually showed up for and not tried to weasel out of jury duty are schmucks. I count it as one of the most important parts of the justice system, and really would rather have someone who doesn't want to be there but IS anyway on a jury hearing my case than all the self important @%$*s who lie on jury duty forms.
Here's the way jury selection works in most places (Maryland included): you register to vote, swearing that you're a citizen and thus go on the voter rolls. Then a county randomly (or not so randomly) selects names from the voter rolls. It makes NO sense for someone intending to vote fraudulently to very transparently deny citizenship for jury duty, when they've sworn they are citizens when registering to vote.
I think what has been uncovered is massive jury duty excuse fraud, not fraud through registering non-citizens to vote.

Re: getting out of jury duty
If you're ever tried by a jury, do you want to be judged by people "too stupid to get out of it"?
