Can somebody tell me how I can send a large email. I thought the latest OSX did away with email size restrictions.

even if the email program doesn't have a set limit, all email servers have a limit - you would have to check with your email provider as to what their limit is.
To bypass email attachment limits using iCloud see the following Knowledgebase article from Apple:
iCloud: Add an attachment to an email
More details about MailDrop:
Mail Drop limits - Apple Support
The best instructions I could find quickly:
How to use Mail Drop and Markup to send large emails in OS X Yosemite
Gmails limit is 25 MB unless you use google drive in a similar way.
and Microsoft has a similar system setup with OneDrive.

It does.
If the e-mail is rejected by the outgoing mail server due to large attachment size, Mail.app will offer to send the attachment through MailDrop automatically.
In my experience (well, my girlfriend's), it works automatically and flawlessly.
