I was wondering what kind of RAM the PBG4 took, since it's obviously going to cost less than the $800 apple wants to buy 2 DIMMs of 512megs each, and stick those in the PBG4, in order to save myself money.

So... what kind of RAM does it take?

Looking for a description... I know it's SDRAM, but what model number, PC133?

The TiBook takes PC100, 144-pin, SO (Small Outline) DIMMS.

Be careful of one thing. The TiBook requires a low profile chip when installing 2 512MB upgrades. Those are a little more expensive than a normal size 512MB which fits fine with other, smaller capacity upgrades in the second slot.

Do you have a link to where I could find the exact part?

Also, does SO mean the correct DIMM (as in smaller size) or is there a SMALLER size SO?

Just wanna be 100%.

Thanks for your help so far.

SO refers to the type of RAM. All obviously have the same width where they connect to the board, but some are longer than others. In general, larger capacities are longer chips. The special low-profile ones are smaller than a regular one of the same capacity, but to make them smaller takes more expensive components, so they are almost always a little higher priced.

There are tons of places on-line that will carry this RAM. www.peripheral.com www.otherworldcomputing.com www.18004memory.com www.crucial.com
