Seagate has come to market with its first 10TB enterprise capacity hard disk drive. The new 10TB Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD provides maximum storage capacity for system integration by using the standard 3.5-inch CMR design. Incorporating seven platters and 14 heads, the drive seals in helium to create a turbulence-free, and quieter environment than regular air-filled drives by decreasing both friction and resistance on the platters.
The 10TB Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD delivers an improved MTBF of 2.5 million hours over conventional drives, and provides consistent performance to customers in a 24x7 multi-drive environment. The new drive is available in both a 6Gb/s SATA and 12Gb/s SAS interfaces.
Pricing is available by request, and in quantity only. The drive is not intended for consumer use, and performance in a single-drive environment is significantly less than conventional drives.
