Yes.
It's simulating the sexual assault of a corpse, but sprinkle on the gay and it's suddenly comic?
We have female characters in shooters now. Do people teabag the bodies of dead women? Because, you know, that sounds kinda ****ed up.

I'm gonna be honest, I've never heard this argument before. Are there any outspoken critics of video game teabagging?

Me?
Ultimately, I'm not the person to ask about the current state of the game-o-sphere. I didn't get my analysis from someone else if that's the question.

If this is the first time I'm hearing about it, I don't consider that outspoken.

A fair point, but I'm having trouble relating the outspoken quotient to the merits of the analysis.

Well I disagree with female part of the analysis most. It also gets more complicated when it's a female character doing the bagging.

Ehh... it's more complicated when a female player does it, but I'd wager in most circumstancess, a male picking a female character isn't really undergoing enough of a transformation of self for the behavior to be considered different.
Especially in an FPS, where they're for the most part only seeing their hands.

I assure you, girl gamers do it too.
I think you're pointing out people don't see themselves as the gender of the character runs headlong into the problem with thinking that players equate the action with gayness.
Teabagging is cultural shorthand for domination; it's a taunt, derived from the limitations of video game mechanics.

Gay sex freaks people out.
Making some aspect of it cultural shorthand for domination doesn't improve the state of affairs.

I have to agree with Dakar, that teabagging in games isn't about sexualty or sexual assault, it's about being a show-off (or thinking your better than someone). Half the time nowadays, I find it's someone who's got a lucky kill in and isn't any good anyways.
I've sort of of associated it with Halo show-offs, but I've noticed it has crept in occasionally into Destiny.
And yes, I'm pretty sure I've seen the women do it too.

I understand how it can come off as sexual but it's not. The only other way to show domination I can think of that I see occasionally is emptying a clip into the corpse, which is detrimental in other ways. (Teabagging does have its risks)

As far as I can tell, I'm being presented the following argument...
A) There isn't really an intent to commit sexual assault by teabagging, therefore it isn't sexual assault.
What I'm claiming is this...
B) There isn't really an intent to commit sexual assault by teabagging, therefore we pretend it isn't sexual assault.
In other words, let's not kid ourselves. The intent doesn't change what it is, it only changes how people react to what it is.
There isn't a valid argument this is altering people's reactions towards sexual assault in the right direction. One can argue it's too insignificant to matter, but can't take it the next step to say it's not actually happening.

It's not sexual assault because it's happening out of context in a video game. The representation is too inaccurate and the stakes are too low.

The context is "I will humiliate my opponent by simulating undesired sex acts upon them".

No one wants balls and on them even nonsexually. They're sweaty and gross and ugly.

I understand the point, but I'm not sure how it relates.

How did I miss this thread?
I'm sorry, but if we're getting offended by the act of teabagging in gaming, then we're running out of legitimate things to get offended by.

Is it any more unreasonable than being offended when someone gives you the finger?

I feel like teabagging in a video game < being given the finger in person < being called a f***ing autist in a video game < being teabagged in person.
Actually, I don't remember ever being offended when someone flipped the bird at me. I'm more upset about the circumstance that led to the finger or embarrassed at what I did to lead to the finger.

You're not the first Mass native that I've heard say that. Is it really that often?
A truck driver once swung out in front of me and nearly forced me into a ditch. I gave him the "what are you doing" raised hands gesture, so he gave me the double bird...while turning. He'd turn, double flip, turn, double flip. Never missed a beat.
I was so impressed by his technique, I applauded him.
