Hello all! After.... *looks at last time signed into MacNN*... whoa, 8 years! i thought I'd pop my head in to say hello.
Since I was last here, I've moved across country to Phoenix, AZ. working for GoDaddy's competitor.
Sad t see that the main MacNN site has gone to join pets.com and other dead sites *pours 40oz. on ground for missed homie*.
So who's still around? What's new and exciting? How do you solve a problem like Maria?

Hi there. A lot has changed in the last 8 years. I'm probably on my 8th Mac and 4 iPads later.

I know it seems like only moments ago, but the smoking crater that is the PWL is at least 12-years-old.

LOL, I discovered I can handle extreme dry heat a lot better than extreme dry cold & extreme humid heat.
Plus the cost of living and jobs are a lot better.

everyone there gets tinted windows, according to my friend who moved there. When she moved back she got pulled over because that level of tinting was questionable in MA.

Doesn't seem to hurt the car, just the people. Cars used to have glued-on trim inside (fake woodgrain, or labeling for rocker switches) where the glue weakens over a year of heat. Those seem to have gone out of style, removing the problem.

LOL, funny you should ask, I have a black car with black leather interior.........
My battery literally fried and leaked in July (The car's an '10 and it was the original Northern battery designed for cold, not heat).
However it did come fully tinted already so there's that.

I heard a commercial for a retirement home which offered “snacks anytime”.
Is there a way we could swing that?

Offering snacks anytime is easy. So long as you don't expect delivery, just the offer.
That home, what did you get if you asked? A leaf of lettuce? Surely they wouldn't hand out good-tasting unhealthy food to old folks, just for the asking ...

I like turtles also, especially in fish/koi ponds. However, I think that many/most such ponds have too many turtles. Having no natural predators in those ponds make the turtle population grow unchecked.

It’s a thread about the 2012 HBO Sarah Palin movie, inflicted upon the forum by me.
The popularity of the topic was such that of the 157 posts, 152 are about turtles.

There's a Chrome extension that fixes the Photobucket issue - "Photobucket Hotlink Fix."

Oh the other thing I did while I was away was circumnavigated (the one word that miss-spelling can be very painful) the globe.
It was specifically a trip to New Zealand with 3 friends, but as one who loves to travel, I took the scenic route of:
- Boston to L.A.: Spent the whole day there
- L.A. to Fiji: Was supposed to spend the whole day there, but airline fouled up my flight so I only had a 2 hr layover
- Fiji to Auckland: 2+ weeks driving all the way for to Te Anau and back up doing various thing along the way.
- Auckland to Brisbane: Spent the day at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.
- Brisbane to Sydney: Spent night but was too exhausted to go out but I really wanted to.
- Sydney to Dubai: Because of very long layover Emirates gave men a complimentary Hotel room but I was really, really tired (And my wallet was singed to nothingness too).
- Dubai back to Boston.
Here's some of the pics of me on said trip: https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B18GWZuqDGW6nP3
Has any one else here done a similiar around the world excursion?

Very cool!
We have done the up/down New Zealand tour, and separately to Fiji. Would have loved to go to Australia also.
you got to hold a koala? awww!
Are your friends from Maine, by any chance?

Not for fun...
I did take the wife to Australia, a 30th birthday celebration for us and a way to use up all of my leftover airline miles after I stopped traveling for work. Flew first class into Sydney and spent two weeks road tripping up the coast to Brisbane.

Technically they're from the NH Seacoast (Portsmouth) but Chris and his fiance do live in ME now. You know them?
