Superb podcast/radio show from BBC world service (get em while it's still a thing - thanks Boris)
Supremely well researched, nuanced and balanced examination of the roots of the capitol riot with zero histrionics and some great detail.
Reached right back to the mid 90s with Clinton's run for governor of Arkansas and creates a compelling narrative for the emergence of alt realities via the early web then 4 and later 8 chan. Actual interviews with major players as well.
Do listen.

I'm hoping Boris and co will be gone before the BBC's funding actually runs out.

I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Seriously. It’s amazing how political dogma overrides all evidence of a superior ROI.

This isn’t the only stellar podcast the BBC has. A few months ago I listened to Goodbye to All This, where a widow recalls the story of the death of her husband from cancer and how she managed to live life afterwards. Holy. Don’t listen to this if your mother has died from cancer just a few months prior.
The quality was top notch, from the editing to the music. Even Vox and the NYT could learn a thing or two.

I listened about half-way through the podcast and you are right, so far it has been excellent. IMHO it really helps that the journalists are “outsiders” (i. e. non-Americans) and looked back decades to give their take on why things have unfolded the way they did.

Is there a transcript? I can’t stand listening to podcasts.

@Paco500
The nice thing is that all the threads come together at the end.
