I am trying to help a friend with his StarMax 5500 clone. He recently installed OS9, and now his Ethernet card does not work. Does he need independant drivers for the 3rd part card?

The ethernet card on these is from a company called Znyx. Try the driver at this location:

Yes, you might want to try and update the drivers for OS9. I'm running OS 9 on my StarMax 5500 w/G3 upgrade without a hitch. My NIC is a DanyaPort 21040 chipset card and the original drivers still work just fine.

We have networked StarMaxs and were having ethernet problems. The network would not recognize the computer. Asante told us that StarMaxs are sensitive to what slot the Ethernet card is placed. We moved the card to a different slot and have not had problems since.

Thanks for the help. I spoke with the guy, and he said he got it working. Hes new to Macs, but knows computers in general. So I figure he just tried until he learned something.
