I am thinking about purchasing the Geforce 3 when I buy a new Mac (soon) because ATI has no announced plans to sell the Radeon 8500 for the Mac and it seems like the two cards are comparable in specifications.
Anyway, is the fan for the Geforce 3 loud? Are you satisfied with the performance from it?
Any responses will be appreciated.

ATi will get the Radeon 8500 for the Mac out soon, I am pretty sure of that.
And personally I would wait for that card, since its anti-aliasing can be used on a mac and since truforum rocks!

-no, it is not loud. I did not notice a change in sound compared to when I just had a GeForce 2MX.
-as far as performance goes, it is better than the GeForce 2MX, however it is not drastic. Unfortunately, not many programs take advantage of the GeForce 3's capabilities

Apple overcharges for their video cards, much like anything else.
To justify the price of a GeForce3 for Mac, you would have to play games day and night for quite a while. Now if only you could flash the ROM on a Leadtek GeForce3 and pop it in a G4...

I just hope ATI puts an ADC-connector instead of the DVI on PC-cards on that nice little 8500
