I am at a loss over why the Mail app in OS X cannot connect to my ISP's POP server (nor SMTP) when PowerMail for X can. I don't get it, I am using PPTP GUI to connect to the internet and browsers work fine as well. Help please!

It's probably because Mail.app uses apop authentication, which some ISP's (including one of my pop accounts) don't. The Mail.app in the Public Beta didn't however. Hopefully Apple will fix this in the next update to Mail...

Mail.app is unfortunately crippled by just a little too much cleverness.

Although it still doesn't work, I know why now. That helps... a bit. Thanks for pointing that apop thing out!

Does anybody know if it's possible to turn that apop-thing off, or maybe have a "Public Beta"-version of Mail.app???
