Ok, here's the situation. iBook with no CD-RW and a PC with CD-RW. They are networked, is there anyway I can burn a .dmg file on windows? Or can I convert it to an .iso or something that will burn on windows?

Thanks

Rename it from .DMG to .ISO and you can burn it from something like Nero. I do it all the time at work and have had no problems at all. Nero even recognises the image as an HFS+ image.

If the dmg is compressed, make an uncompressed version with Disk Copy (Image > convert image) and burn it with Nero.

OS X Disk Copy can also mount ISO images that were created on a Windows machine using a similar technique (rename to .DMG). There's a program for Wintel machines called UnDisker that can create disk images. I used it once to create images of the NT4 install floppies to try to install NT4 under Bochs (x86 emulator). Disk Copy recognises the images as FAT-formatted ISO images and mounts them without complaint.

.dmg aren't exacly iso images because they can also be compressed or encrypted. Only uncompressed unencrypted .dmg can be used on a PC.

I'll have a play around with Nero today at work and see if I can come up with an answer.

BTW, have you tried using Disk Copy to convert the .dmg to a 'CD/DVD Master'?
