hehe - seen!

Alpha & Omega RULE! Daimoni if you ever want to swap mp3s (only ones which are legal to swap of course) get in contact! I think I have IM details in my profile but my email is david_at_stain_dot_org - I just bought an excellent Shaka CD last week (Commandments of Dub Chapter 1) and I just KNOW you will love my Dry & Heavy collection!

And now I am going to listen to 'rastafari' by A & O in their honour!!!

I've got an old USB HD stashed away somewhere, 20gb and full of music, lots of it of the dub persuasion. Haven't used it in ages as it's noisy as hell but I might well plug it in tonight. It's a hot summers day in London and the pirate radio stations of Brixton and Hackney are playing Jah's music

i personally like sound-system dub and the two dub plate selections. However there is lots of good stuff from them. I personally don't like their newest stuff so much and there is some drum and bassy stuff I don't really like so much. Again, email me if you want to trial any of the music, I have masses on mp3 and could pull out some nice tunes by other people if you like.

I'm slowly building up (again) what I used to have... so I don't have that much to offer, dub-wise.

But if you're talking about Alpha + Omega catalog... my favorite record was 'Watch And Pray'. Especially the first track. Make sure you don't hurt your speakers while playing, though.

I'm gonna get a few tunes together and put them in my web directory for you to d/l, my bredren

check back in a while I'll have a URL fro you

Sorry...
What of these would you recommend from Alpha & Omega:
1. Safe in the Ark
2. Almighty Jah
3. Watch and Pray: Overstanding
4. Everyday Life
5. Sound System Dub
6. Dub Plate Selection, Vol. 1
7. Voice in the Wilderness
8. Dub Plate Selection, Vol. 2
9. Daniel in the Lion's Den Alpha & Omega
10. Sacred Art of Dub
11. Mystical Things
12. Dub Philosophy

Thanks...

So just get Watch and Pray for the time being.

In fact, you LUCKY LUCKY PEOPLE, I have just finished uploading some tunes to http://www.blackshoals.net/~david/mp3/

btw mods, these tunes are not commercial mp3s and it is perfectly legal to share them.

Being more of a rocksteady and skinhead reggae fan I have only a passing interest in dub, but you guys should check out the Vessels. They're a skinhead reggae group based out of LA, and they can create some MAD dub. Personally speaking, I think most of their dub stuff is better than 99% of the stuff that came out of Jamaica. If anyone want's to contact me on AOL (SN:RudeboiELP) we could exchange MP3's.

With the audiogalaxy collapse today I set up a quick forum for my audiogalaxy groupmembers at http://www.blackshoals.net/~david/ag/

there is nothing much there at the moment but activity may pick up if it is needed. Feel free to register - the music they are all into isn't exclusively dub, also reggae, lovers rock, dancehall, rocksteady, ska etc.

as i say there isn't much there yet (9 members and no messages except from me) but it might pick up. Most people from AG are headed over to filetopia.org - I don't know what community facilities they have there. Audiogalaxy was really nice in that aspect (although the implementation/interface could have been better, it was really nice to have)

there is a lot of music sharing going on and a lot of people with massive collections that make my 30 odd gigs of dub look small in comparison. Maybe I'll put up a few more tunes, do you have IM? I think my IM is in my profile, if not here then certainly in those forums above.

[edit: dang - I promised some of the blakamix stuff didn't I! Ah well guess I'll have to dig some out for you all ]

ok there is a bit more there now. I have really slow upload speeds (capped at 128kbs) otherwise there would be more. I'm spoiling you all anyway

If there is anything not in the 'complete' folder then I am probably uploading it still so don't bother trying to d/l it.

Happy listening! Daimoni - do you not have an IM client?

I don't have AIM...and never will (just an AOL hatred kinda thing). Also, I only have a regular 56 Kb modem at home. I'm downloading stuff here at work...thanks again. I'll check out Tower Records for these Alpha/Omega CD's!

Hey.

Thanks for the post, the mp3s and the suggs! I'm a bit of a dub fan myself, but haven't gotten too far from the On-U stuff (and their sources (Prince Far-I IS the Voice of Thunder!), assorted Lee Perry (the Congos RULE!!!), the Mad Professor and King Tubby. Nice to have a few names to track down!

I don't listen to as much dub as I used to in my smoke-y youth, the damn stuff always makes me want to get really stoned. And tinrib, yer sig pics ain't helpin'!

splode
(with lotsa echo-plate)

p.s. Anyone ever heard of Salmonella Dub? They're a New Zealand band I stumbled across when someone linked to their webpage as an example of nice design. But, I haven't heard 'em. Work in a library, so I don't listen to anything at work.
