I became a fan of IRN-BRU after visiting Scotland a few years ago. Unfortunately I haven't been able to obtain it in New Zealand, so I substitute with L&P, which I'm sure none of you will have heard of. (More for me! )

Excellent... I may just have to comply with your demands. I just ran a Google search on the place, and apparently there are more Brazilian places in the area than I thought. Some look a bit pricey, but feijoada is worth it. Damn, now I'm getting hungry...

Not quite. Everyone in Chicago (and everywhere else in Illinois I've been to) calls it pop.

My mother is from New York. The first time she ordered a "soda" at a Chicago restaurant got a Coca-Cola float. Since then, she has been calling it soda pop so that there is no confusion (and because she can't remember which part of the country calls it what).

In Ontario everyone calls it pop, never soda. When I went to upstate New York (near the border, not far from here) I heard both.
