Before I add my $0.02 worth, does anyone know if the Kazaa spyware will also be ported?

Probably, although the spyware removal instructions should also be ported rather quickly as well

Um, how about.. no.
I, for one, don't want to deal with the uncertainty of whether or not their spyware will be installed onto my system, regardless of whether or not it can be removed. Spyware is one thing that we luckily haven't seen rampant on the Mac yet, and I'd hate for a developer to start spearheading the effort. One developer does it, and the rest follow..
And anyways, I find a real, legally obtained DVD or CD to be much more satisfying than some Divx bootleg or crappy quality MP3 from such services. A real woman is much more satisfying than porn, too.. I suggest you try it.

I agree....F* that crap...damn spyware.
I have 0 respect for companies that use those tactics and will NEVER support them by using their crappy product.
F* Kazaa.....F* limewire.....F* them all.....
I just wish the RIAA would pull its head out of it's anus and figure out that their business model needs to change.

Keep this nonesense off our beloved platform.
If you want to file swap- Limewire is worth supporting.

When will we see a public version of neo ? For now I am using sputnix which is great but you can only dowload Mp3's, from what i have read on the pages I understand that Kazaa can download movies too...
When I have to choose between a buggy freeware app written in cocoa or a spyware version with tons of publicity I choose the buggy freeware app...

Kazaa can go to hell. I find pretty much everything I want on KDX and Limewire. I use Sputnix for mp3.
Fsck them and their bully apps.

Here is another screenshot of Kazaa, in use:
I created Neo so I could get past Purdue's download limits by only downloading from intra-Purdue servers. Seeing how cool this was, I expanded it so you could download from anyone...Here is a quick explanation of how it works...
It does NOT connect to the Kazaa's supernode. It is a "shadow" client, meaning that it brute forces out the IP address (within a defined range), looking for Kazaa hosts. When it finds one, it downloads a list of files, urls, and file sizes and stores them on your computer. When you search, you search through the files on your hard drive (actually in memory), so the search is instant. It shows you the list, you double click to download.
It works surprisingly well, especially if you are on a university connection. You would set the IP range to that of your local dorm's network and after an hour or two of ip scanning you'll have a searchable index of thousands of mp3s, movies, etc. If you're not at a college you scan still put in the same ip address range, or use some random ips from RoadRunner, for example.
There are still a lot of issues to work of before the app released, but it will be released eventually. I just finished my last exam here @ Purdue, and I'll be at WWDC next week...but after that I'll be hitting the code hard.

How big would the index be after 2 hours ( in Mb ) doesn't that take a lot of space on your drive ? Looks good though...
