We've bought some new iBooks. I've got one *exactly* set up the way I want it with accounts, applications, setup etc, and I want to duplicate it across to the other iBooks, rather than have to repeat the setup process for each computer. I can connect them with a Firewire cable, attaching one iBook like an external drive to the other.
However, this doesn't seem to work.
It used to be easy with OS-9- just dump everything over with a Finder copy and make sure the System Folder was blessed afterwards. With OS-X, it's a nightmare of invisible directories and special permissions. For one thing, invisible directories are not included in standard Finder copies. Once I tried manually making each folder visible with ResEdit, copying them over and then re-invisibleing them. This didn't work becuase the unix-style permissions were stuffed up.
Is there a simple "disk mirror" type program or process that will let me copy things on one hard drive *exactly* to another computer?
